The opposition group organised to object to the modernisation of irrigation systems here in Calasparra has called a protest through the town centre for today, April 17, between 11.30am and 1pm.
The motive for the protest, acording to Ardevas, is “ the disastrous and opaque process used to start and carry out the work on the second phase of the project to install pressurized drop irrigation.
Ardevas claims the work, started in March, to install the new system has started “with more than half the community against it.” They further claim the process has been divisive and has split the communities of Calasparra and Valentin.
