The Segura Water Bard has removed the four trees that fell into the river along the lower terraces at the Sanctuary last week.
However, a Sanctuary spokesperson has hit out at the authority for not starting work to repair the terraces which are gradually being a eroded by the current.
According to the spokesperson this natural space is undergoing “constant deterioration” which has been aggravated by the loss of the four trees on the water´s edge. The lower terrace has been left without any support and is danger of collapse which could impede the access of pilgrims to the sanctuary.
“The longer it is left to deteriórate the more it will cost to repair,” according to sources close to the sanctuary.
