A man who had escaped from prison and is the subject of an oustanding arrest warrant following the drug arrests earlier this week was detained by the local police with a stash of heroin prepared for sale.
The 40 year old Calasparrian, initials T.J.C, was arrested on Sunday on suspicion of drugs trafficking at the entrance to Espàrragal Alto as he approached his home.
Police found 400 doses of a substance presumed to be heroin, 62 of which were prepared for distribution and some precision scales.
According to José Vélez, the Head of Citizen Security the local police and the Guardia Civil had worked “hand in hand to achieve this magnificant result:” arresting the presumed traffickers including a delinquent who had escaped from prison and taken refuge in Calasparra.
According to official surces the man eluded police on October 15 when two men were arrested in Esparragal with 120 does of heroin and 40 grammes of marajuna.
Vélez says the arrests were a major blow in the fight to clear the scourge of drug trafficking from Calasparra.
“Any resident can anonymously report suspicions about drugs and drugs trafficking to the police in the secure knowledge their identity will be protected,” he said.
