PRESCRIPTION CHARGES REFUNDS

Some 55.089 pensioners , approximately 23% of those registered with the Murcian Health Service, will start to receive refunds of “overpayments” for prescriptions in the next few days.
The Ministry set a limit of between eight to 16 euros a month, depending on the income of the pensioner, and fixed a period of six months for the excess payments to be refunded. The final day of this six month period is Friday.
The Health Service has blamed the Social Security for delays in providing the bank account numbers of pensioners.
Technicians at the Health Service have identified the prescriptions of every pensioner via the number on their medical cards and the DNI of the patient.
Some 55.089 pensioners will receive refunds for prescription charges paid in July. Half of these will receive a maximum of 4.95 euros but some 1,635 patients will have paid more than 30 euros will receive between 40 and 60 euros.
Any reader who considers they are due a refund and needs more information should speak to staff at the local Health Centre. If there are any problems readers are advised to go to the Consumer Office, at the side of the back door of the Town Hall. Staff do not speak English.
