The Spanish Agency of Medicines and Sanitary Products (AEMPS) has withdrawn the following medicines from sale:
A batch of the anticoagulant, Sintrom, produced by the company Novartis (batch T5484) with boxes of 20 pastilles of four milligrams, due to “the presence of a foreign object in a pastille.”
Also withdrawn is the oral syrup Junifen, an antiflammotory with Ibrufen as the main active ingredient produced by Reckitt Benckiser Healthcare (batch G07) in bottles of 40 milligrams per millilitre because “of results outside specifications”.
Lastly various contact lenses for daily use produced by Johnson & Johnson Medical Iberia under the trade mark, Acuvue, (etafilcon A) and Acuvue Advance with hydraclear (galyfilcon A) have been withdrawn after the company found a number of batches of individual contact lenses were not sealed properly. This could compromise the sterility of the product and increase the risk of infection.
Anyone who has purchased any of these products should refrain for using them immediately and return the products to the point of purchase. Anyone who has used these contact lenses should also contact their opticians for advice or, if they suffer any discomfort, should go to see their GP.
