Calasparra marched together yesterday for the 10th anniversry of the Marcha Rosa (Pink March) Against Cancer.
This 10th edition was organized by the voluntary association, Calasparra Se Mueve, as hundreds of Calasparrians dressed in pink in an emotional encounter to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and support those with this illness.
The day began with the distribution of the charity vests and Calasparra Se Mueve paid homage to Víctor Pérez Rigal, oncologist at the Hospital Virgen de la Arrixaca.

This event counted on numerous volunteers and local businesses who collaborated to organize the march.
The march followed its normal route through Calasparra stopping outside the OAPs Home where a manifesto eas read. Later the march stopped at the Rice Grower´s Fountain to tie the commemorative pink scarf around the sclupture´s neck.
At Cine Rosales Juan Montiel was the person elected to read the manifesto, full of experiences of fighting and surviving cancer and underlining the importance of supporting one another.
A painting by local artist, Pedro José Sánchez, was raffled and raised 1,500 euros.
The Pink March finished with the launching of pink baloons as a symbol of hope and the fight against cancer.
