NEXONR READER REPORTS MICROSOFT SCAM
If you get a call from Microsoft telling you there is a problem with your computer and they will fix it for you BEWARE!! It´s a scam!!
A NEXOnr reader has received four calls from the fraudsters in a month.
“They pose as a Microsoft Company and tell you there is a problem with your computer,” he says.
When our civic minded reader told the caller he would pass their number onto the Guardia Civil they told him: “The police will never catch us” and then the phone went dead.
The number left on our reader´s landline is: 001023521011. Nexonr has passed this number and the information from our reader to the Head of Citizen Security at the Town Hall. He has agreed to pass the number onto the police, the Guardia Civil and the local Consumer Rights Office.
Nexonr also typed the telephone number into the Google search engine and there have been various reports about these fraudsters. A typical one reads:
“It´s a scam. They pretend they are from Microsoft and say they will fix your computer. They ask to take control of your computer and then ask for credit card details. The best advice if you get a call from this number is not to answer it!!”
