The regional government of Murcia part financed the construction of the new Town Hall building to the tune of 700,000 euros on the condition that the work was completed by today, May 7.
The question is whether Calasparra must now give the money back as the building remains unfinished.

Adminstrative delays over the subsequent 15 years led the regional government to lay down a dealine for its completion of May 7.
Calasparra Town Hall has applied for an additional grant as the total cost of the construction has increased to 1,744,012.88 euros, of which the Town Hall must pay a million euros

When it was obvious the building would not be finished in time the local government team introduced changes to the original plan, changing the exterior cladding from bricks to a red and eliminating a floor of the bulding in order to complete the project by the deadline.
