Yesterday Calasparra Town Hall officially presented the new edition of CALARROZ 2026, a gastronomic shop window for Calasparra rice that coincides with the 40th anniversary of the DOP origin of protection.
Calasparra once again places rice at the centre of its gastronomic, cultural and tourist activities during October.
The main stage will be Cine Rosales, from October 23 to 25, where there will be stalls of gastronomy, tastings, live music, DJs and Show Cooking.
One of the great attractions this year will be, once again, the direct involvement of local bars and restaurants offering tapas made with Calasparra rice.
The programme will count on the presence of chefs such as Salvador Fernández, of Casa Borrego; Karla Muñoz; William Tellez; Gregory Córdoba, of the restaurant Paella del Sol-El Cándelo; and the Bulgarian chef Nick Todorov, who took part in the World Paella Day 2024.
CALARROZ will extend through the month of October with activities for everyone: the Route of the Rice Harvest, school activities, a Popular Rice Competition, charity workshops, activities for the little ones, a Folklore Festival and a Sampling of Literature, among others.
The final touch will be on October 31 in the Municipal Auditorium with a Gala to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the DOP Calasparra Rice, a homage to 40 years of history and to all the people who have contributed to making Calasparra rice a famous product bound to our town.
