NATIONAL POLICE INVESTIGATE BENEFIT FRAUD IN CALASPARRA

Calasparra is one of four towns in the Murcia region being targetted by officers from the national police cooperating with SEPE (the national public service task force) to investigate residents of different nationalities who are fraudently claiming unemployment benefit.
The inspections aim to ensure claimants have complied with the qualifying periods for claiming the benefit and/or have the necessary authorizatiion to travel abroad while claiming benefit.
It is illegal in Spain to travel abroad, without authorisation, while claiming unemployment benefit.
From June to December 2015 some 3521 claims for unemployment benefits by claimants of different nationalities were examined and of these some 412 are being investigated.
As a result of these investigations a person from Morocco, aged 35 years, is currently ubject to an deportation order.
