Yesterday, Sunday October 12, was a national holiday as Spain´s National Day, also known as the «Día de al Hispanidad» to commemorate the discovery of America by Christpher Columbus, and the date the Guardia Civil celebrate their patron saint, the Virgin of Pilar.
In Calasparra the Guardia Civil celebrated in the Merced Church, represented by the Commandant of the Guardia Civil in Calasparra, Chief Alberto Herrero, the Mayoress of Calasparra, Teresa Garcia and members of her government team, the Chief of the Local Police, Miguel Ángel Martínez, the Justice of the Peace, Antonia Esperanza Moya, and other representatives of local organisations.
