MORE THAN 80% OF MURCIANS VACCINATED FOR COVID-19

The regional Health Authoritites in Spain anounced before Christmas that the second booster, designed to protect against the new strains of Omicron, was available to everyone regardless of age.
Some 80.87% of residents in the Murcia region are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (not including the second booster) and 85.27% of the general population of Spain is fully vaccinated.
In regional Health  Authority statistics released for the weekend ending Janury 9, sadly, there were six deaths from the virus in the previous seven days.  Hospitalizations have also increased  and the number of new cases in the Over 60´s group is slightly up.
In Calasparra there were three cases of Covid-19 identified amongst all age groups during the week ending January 9 and one of these was in the Over 60´s group.

Statistics for the uptake of the second booster are not currently available.
The Government has announced that the new booster is effective against the strains of the virus in China.
Anyone can currently make an appointment at the local Medical Centre to recieve the second «Omicron effective», booster regardless of age.
