Sixteen public promotion flats were handed over to the local Town Hall by the Institute of Housing and Land of the region of Murcia yesterday.
The local Town Hall has already received over 50 applications from residents interested in the new accomodation. The rent of the flats will be between 100 and 250 euros monthly.
The two million seven thousand euro project has included the restoration of the former home of the famous local architect, Emilio Perez Piñero, which dates back to 1920 and has been listed as “of historic interest.”
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jesus Navarro, said the urban space in Calle Mayor had been abandoned and derelict before the project reclaimed it, built 16 family homes and restored a public space around “one of the most important houses in Calasparra.”
The area between the two block of flats has been opened to the public with a footpath which leads from the St Peter´s area to central Calasparra.
