The Met Office, AEMET, has isued a Yellow Weather Warning for high temperatures today, Tuesday 14 and tomorrow. Wednesday 15, from 1pm to 9pm for the North West region of Murcia that includes Calasparra.
According to the forecast temperatures are likely to soar over the next few days to reach the early 40’s. Later in the week temperatures are likely to reach the early 40’s after midday and remain in the mid 30ś until after midnight.
There may be some respite at the weekend when temperatures are predicted to fall to the mid 30ś.
So far this year some 278 people in Spain have died due to the high temperatures. Official advice is to stay out of the sun after midday and not to take on any heavy work outside or intense exercise.
Light meals, no sugary drinks or alcohol and wearing light, loose clothing are recommended.
Keep your house cool by closing the doors and windows, blinds/curtains as soon as the sun heats up. Use air coditioning or fans to keep the heat down.
Keep an eye on elderly people, chilren and pets who are more vulnerable to th effects of the heat.
