Legal action taken by the opposition Partido Popular is “just designed to hurt me” says the Mayor of Calasparra, José Velez.
Confirming that he will appeal the ruling requiring repayment of salaries and expenses paid since last summer, the Mayor hit back at the PP saying: “We haven´t stolen anything. We have worked honestly for our salaries, which were approved by the full Town Hall meeting.”
The ruling accepts the complaint from the PP that they did not receive information about the salaries and expenses in “the time stated by law” and anuls the second Full Town Hall meeting in June designed to correct the administrative error.
“The PP want us to repay salaries and expenses, which were approved by the Town Hall Council and for which we have worked,” he said.
The Mayor has confirmed he will call another Full Town Hall Meeting to correct the adminstrative error, “and a third and a fourth, up to 200,000,000 meetings.”
“We are completely relaxed and we will continue to work for our town while the PP, and those who support them, are exclusively occupied in doing damage.”
Next Monday the Mayor will meet with his legal advisors in order to appeal the sentence and look for a legal solution to the controversial Town Hall meeting last July when the salaries and expenses were orginally approved.
