Another forest fire, this time on the emblematic Monte San Miguel, has raised the alarm in these days of drought and the Mayor has called for the public to be vigilant and to report any signs of fires or suspicious activities.
Although the cause of the fire on Mont San Miguel on Sunday evening is still unknown, according to official sources, everything points to arson.
The emergency services were called in at 8.45pm and by 10.30pñm the fire had been extinguished. But not before it had burned 1,100 square metres of the lower slopes.
The rapìd intervention of the emergency service: including fire brigades from Calasparra and Caravaca, the local police, the guardia civil and a helicopter, prevented the fire spreading.
