MASSIVE SUPPORT FOR STRIKE AGAINST REDUCTION REFORMS AND CUTS

The national strike called by the Students Union yesterday received massive support from the pupils in Calasparra and lukewarm support from the teachers.
At the Emilio Piñero High School 94% of the pupìls observed the strike and were supported by 50% of the teaching staff.
At the Esperanza Primary school 89.7% of pupils went on strike with 22.7% of teachers in support.
At the Molinos Primary School 76% of pupils took industrial action without any support from the teaching staff.
Some 61.2% of the pupils at the Pedreras Primary School observed the strike supported by 25% of the teaching staff.
At the Catholic School 8% of the secondary pupils went on strike without the support of infant or primary pupils or the teaching staff.
A mass ralley was organised in the Plaza de la Corredera at midday but was poorly atended with about 50 teachers, parents and pupìls taking part.
The industrial action was called by the national Students Union to protest against cuts to grants and the increase of university fees and against the eduction reforms which include compulsary religious education classes.
