The Local Police and the Guardia Civil have dismantled an indoor marijuana plant in Calasparra town and detained one suspect.
The suspect faces charges of a crime against the public health and defrauding electricity.
The operation began when the local police officers and Guardia Civil discovered a constant and strong smell of marijuana in a zone of Calasparra town that led them to suspect there was an illegal plant in a nearby property.
A surveillance operation was mounted and the suspect, who visited the property regularly, was identified. A search warrant was obtained so the officers were able to enter and search the premises where they found and dismantled an indoor planation of marijuana in an advanced state of growth.
Numerous pieces of electrical equipment, ventialtion systems, lights and other tools used for intensive cultivation of marijuana were seized as well as an illegal electricity installation.
The detainee appeared before magistrates.
The investigations continue open to clarify if other suspects were involved in the operation of the plantation.
