Unemployment in Calasparra during August increased to 1,206, a total of 113 more than last month, representing some 11.2% of the town´s population.
Although unemployment in Calasparra remains below the average both regionally and nationally the figures are disappointing and show a trend in North East Murcia where jobless figures have increased by 60% in a year.
Regionally 3,572 more people are unemployed this month bringing the total to 144,548.
National unemployment figures have also risen after four consecutive months of descent. Total national unemployment now stands at 4,625,634 according to the Ministry of Social Security and Employment, increasing compared to August last year by 11.98%.
