The United Left and Green Party have resigned from the newly formed committee running the bull ring in Calasparra following the publication of the “cartel” for the Espiga de Oro next month.
Ricardo Garcia, coordinator of the IU and Verdes, told a press conference “the only motive” for the resignation “ is the way the Taurean workers are to be contracted.”
The party find it “unacceptable, especially these days, where workers rights are being seriously eroded, that there is no collective agreement for the workers which includes minimum hours” and accuses the Committee of continuing the “bad management” of previous companies running the bull ring.
The IU claim they have brought new ideas to reduce costs to the table from the first meeting of the new Committee but they have not been acepted. “We cannot accept this illegality and lack of dignity and transparency.”
The aim of the resignation is that the Committee change the management model to include greater public participation “which sets an example for other towns in all aspects.”
