AEMET ORANGE WEATHER WARNING FOR MURCIA REGION

AEMET, the Met Office, has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for adverse weather conditions for today, Wednesday September 9 in the Murcia region.
As yet Calasparra, situated in the North West part of the region, is not included in the warnings although AEMET predicts some rain.
However, as the warnings are for dire weather conditions and bearing in mind the almost impossible task of accurately predicting weather in Calasparra, we are including the warning with the emergency advice provided by the 112 Emergency Services, just in case.
Rainfall of some 30 litres per square metre per hour is predicted in the greater part of the region. There are also storm warnings.
The Orange Alert covers the Vega del Segura, Valle del Guadalentín, Lorca, Águilas, Campo de Cartagena and Mazarrón.
Advice is to revise downpipes and drains for obstructions
To keep away from dried riverbeds and rivers and streams
If you have to travel keep away from rivers, streams, riverbeds and anywhere else where water flows/floods during storms
Do not cross flooded areas by foot or in a vehicle
When driving reduce speed and increase the security distance with other cars.
