The local Department of Equality at the Town Hall has shared this manifesto on this, the International Day Against the Trafficking of Women and Children into Sexual Exploitation:
“Today, September 23, we commemorate the International Day Against the Sexual Exploitation of Women and Children, which was designated by the World Conference Against the Traffficking of People in Bangladesh in January 1999.
It was on September 23, 1913, in Argentina when the first legal norm in the world against the prostituion of children became law.
The trafficking of people is a crime of national and transnational criminal organisations which mainly affects women and children. It is essential that states coordinate on international, national and regional levels and create effective measures and mechanisms to prevent trafficking, punish the traffickers and protect the victims.
People trafficking is known as 21st century slavery.
The regional Government of Murcia, Murcia Town Hall and Calasparra Town Hall say NO to endangering human dignity and the fundamental liberties of the victims and YES to freeedom.”
