The Government has announced a 1.4% rise in the monhly ceiling for pensioners when they take their prescriptions to the chemist effective from tomorrow.
The former maximum monthly payments were 8.14, 18.32 or 61.08 euros, depending on income, corresponding to some 4.20 euros per packet or bottle.
The 1.4% rise means pensioners will pay a minimum of 8.26 euros and a maximum of 62 euros monthly with those in the middle income bracket paying 18.59 euros.
