Once the new electronic entry system comes into force later this year you wiill not be able to use the Green Residency Certificate as valid proof of residency in Spain and may be accused of overstaying and denied entry or returned to the UK.
If you still use the Green Residency Certificate, despite all the advice since Brexit to change it to a TIE, and you are likely to travel to outside Spain you will need the TIE residency card to avoid problems at the border.
The new information is that the old Green Certificate will not be recognised by the EU’s Entry Exit System.
If you don´t already have one, to be exempt from registering with the new EES and guarantee entry into Spain, you need to change the Green Residency Certificate for a TIE before the new system comes into effect later this year.
