HOT SPELL INCREASES FIRE RISK

Today, the first day of August, will bring the highest temperatures of the year so far with thermometers expected to register 40 degrees centigrade or more in the region of Murcia.
The high temperatures today and tomorrow are due to a mass of hot air coming our way from the Sahara.
There may be some respite on Friday when a wind from Levante (direction of Alicante, Castellon and Valencia) may bring slightly lower temperatures although by Sunday a new hot spell is predicted.
The Civil Protection has issued a warning of an increased risk of forest fires due to the elevated temperatures and advises extreme caution with cigarette butts, bonfires and barbecues.
