The AVE, the high speed rail link, has reached Alicante which now joins an exclusive club of cities connected to the network.
The AVE service between Alicante and Madrid starts today, June 18, with nine trains daily and extra services at the weekend. The journey takes two hours and twenty minutes, saving 50 minutes on a normal rail journey. There are three stops, Cuenca, Albacete and Villena and tickets cost 64.9 euros.
