Pupils,
teachers and local councilors gathered at the gates of the local High School on
Monday to protest and demand a GCE Arts course.
The protest was timed to coincide with the beginning of the new term: a term in
which the Emilio Perez Piñero High School will not offer pupils the opportunity
to take GCE Arts.
The pupils had asked the school management to “fight” for its pupils even
though there was an insufficient number of them interested in the course.
The headmaster of the High School, Jose Antonio Sanchez has repeatedly claimed
the “last word is with the Department of Education” and that the answer has
been “No” since June.
“Now we have nine pupils interested in this course. This increase means I will
apply again for the course,” he told Radio Calasparra.
