The thermo solar plant Puerto Errado 2 was officially opened last year a this time by local dignatories and visting dignatories including the Swiss Ambassador to Spain, Urs Ziswiler.
The plant, the biggest in Europe, had completed three years of testing the mirrors which produce thermosolar energy.
During this first year of comercial production the plant has produced 40 Gwatts of electricity: enough for 12,000 homes. At full capacity it can produce 30 Mwatts.
Some 25 people work at the plant the majority of whom are locals. It is a solar field with 376.320 mirrors with a reflection area of 302.000 square metres which occupy 65 hectares: equivilant to 130 football pitches.
The plant is expected to function for the next 25 years.
