The domestic electricity bill for 20 million users will fall by between 2.1% and 2.2% from this October.
The reduction is due to a decision by the Supreme Court ruling that an increase imposed
by the companies to compensate for the previous freezing of bills for several months was illegal.
This year there have already been rises of tariffs by 7% in April and 4% in July and an increase of IVA from 18% to 21% from September 1.
This is the first decrease in domestic electricity tariffs since 2009 when the energy market in Spain was liberalized.
