The Provincial Audience of Murcia has confirmed that the proposal to refloat La Diosa, put forward by the former owners and approved by a meeting of the creditors, is unviable and has rejected it.
This decision finally rules out moves by Conservas Fernandez to refloat the company and makes way for the plant re-opening under new management.
In the judgment, which rejects an appeal by the company, the Audience rules that there are serious doubts over the possible refloating of the canning plant given that operations have been paralyzed for eight years and the alleged investors were not accredited.
The Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, says the decision “opens the door for new owners to begin operations anew at the plant and create 300 jobs, given that the judgment is final, the company is bankrupt and the owners are facing charges of alleged fraud.”
