The children of Calasparra took their families to the skirts of the San Miguel Sierra on Saturday to collect all the rubbish left behind by others.
It is a great shame that many people who go out into the countryside to walk, run or simply enjoy the fresh air, leave behind the remnants of their picnic, water bottles, cans, cigarette packets and the grand etcetera which makes up the litter strewed across our rural areas.
Now the children are putting them to shame!!
They are members of the Local Committee of Children and Adolescents, organised by Calasparra Town Hall, who voted to clean up the San Miguel Sierra as their first environmental project.
On Saturday, with members of their families, members of the Town Hall Services and councillors, they spent the morning picking up other´s people´s rubbish.
Calasparra Town Hall has thanked the children and their families for the concern they show for the environment and our natural surroundings, and for the effort they put in on Saturday.
