There were light snow showers in Caravaca and Moratalla yesterday and the Met Office has extended the extreme weather warning for the region of Murcia to cover the whole of today, Tuesday.
Motorists are warned not to use their cars unless totally necessary and especially not to travel to the larger cities, such as Madrid or Valencia or to the coast. For essential journeys it is recommended that motorists carry snow chains.
The orange alert for the region warns of an accumulation of up to seven centimetres of snow at points 800 metres above sea level.
