Former Mayor of Calasparra, Pepe Velez, was elected General Secretary of the Socialist Party in Murcia with 94% of the vote and he celebrated with the President of Spain.
The President, Pedro Sanchez, was at Pepe Velez´s side at the closure of the Regional Executive Group Meeting of the PSOE Murcia yesterday.
Velez had been elected Government Delegate for the Murcia region but has relinquished this post to take up the post of General Secretary. He is likely to be the PSOE candidate for the Presidency of the Murcia region for the next elections.
Velez has always been a staunch supporter of Pedro Sanchez, even when the majority of the national executive of the party were against his candidature as leader.
