You will pay the same tariff for using your mobile for calls, text messages or Internet in any European country by 2016.
This is the aim of the European Commission which has already introduced a maximum tariff for calls and text message, effective from July 1, and will add a maximum tariff of 90 cents per megabyte for the using the Internet on your mobile from July 1 next year. This tariff will be reduced to 70 cents in 2013 and 50 cents the next year.
The move by the European Commission aims to end the abuses of telephone companies which currently charge customers up to 2.6 cents a megabyte for using the Internet on their mobile telephone outside their country of residence.
By 2016 the difference in tariffs for using mobiles for calls, text messages or the Internet in any European country should have disappeared.
