The Spanish government has improved the conditions, training and identification of guide dogs, warning dogs (trained to raise alarm if their owner faints, fits etc) and dogs that accompany victims of domestic violence.
The aim of the new norm is to combine the maximum protection to the well being of the animal in order to boost an essential element of personal autonomy and the indendependent life of many citizens.
The new norm extends to all types of disability such as:
Warning dogs for medical alert or sonar
Dogs that assist people with autism or people who suffer recurrent crisis with sensory disconnection
Dogs that accompany victims of domestic violence or sexual violence
In this way the norm guarantees access, circulation and permanence to those dogs that assist in all public and private spaces at a national level assuring that there is no discrimination.
