The charity ONCE, which seeks employment and supports disabled people in the workplace, has launched a roadshow, which aims to help 5,000 young people between 16 to 29 years with a disability of at least 33% to improve their employability.
The roadshow will visit 15 autonomous communities and 78 districts in Spain over the next three months and will be in North West Murcia on September 10, 11 and 12.
Candidates who apply will be advised of training opportunities and how to respond to the current employment demands of employers in Spain.
The initiative was presented in Calasparra today, Friday, by Inserta Empleo, the training and employment arm of the ONCE Foundation.
The roadshow travels under the slogan: “Don´t Give Up” and the motto: “This opportunity doesn´t happen every day.”
The programme, “Activate Your Talent,” is co-financed by the European Social Fund.
According to ONCE unemployment for people with disabilities currently stands at 28.6%. Some 89,400 young people, between the age of 16 and 24 years, are registered as disabled: 4.9% of the active population of Spain. Unemployment amongst this group stood at 60.6% in 2016: some 32 points more than the same age group but without disabilities.
