Local Police Sergeant, Miguel Moret Duclós, has called on residents and visitors to respect the traffic and parking restrictions signaled on the streets of Calasparra during Easter week.
He told Radio Calasparra listeners: “This is a time when there are crowds of people in the streets and we will have officers on special patrols. It is important that everyone respects the traffic signs, the diversions and the parking restrictions in different streets on different days and at different times.”
The following restrictions will be in place:
FRIDAY: Procession of the Vía Crucis at 10pm. Vehicles must be taken off the streets by 7pm. It will be forbidden to circulate or park near the Merced Church, Calle Poeta Miguel Hernández, Calle Lavador, Calle Manzano, Calle Goya, Calle Los Santos, Calle Pastor Rubira, Calle Mayor and the Plaza de la Constitución at St Peter´s Church.
PALM SUNDAY At 10.30am The procession will be after the blessing of the palms and olives in the Saints Church: Placeta de los Santos, Calle los Santos, Calle Vázquez, Lavador, Teniente Flomesta and the area of the Convento and around the Merced Church.
ARRIVAL OF ECCE-HOMO. Vehicles must be taken of the street by 5pm. The procession will be from the Ecce Homo Chapel on the B32 and will enter Calasdparra for the Calle Germán Galindo. After the meeting with the figure of the Dolorosa, the procession will continue along Calle Germán Galindo, through the Convento to the Plaza de la Corredera, Calle Salzillo to Cuatro Esquinas, Calle Mayor, Plaza Constitución and finish at St Peter´s Church.
HOLY TUESDAY Procession with the statue of the Soledad. Starting from Calle Huerto. Avenida Primero de Mayo to the Plaza de la Corredera, Calle Salzillo to cuatro esquinas, Calle Mayor and the Plaza de la Constitución to St Peter´s Church.
All of these roads will be closed before and during the processions and parking will be prohibited.
