The budget airline, Jet2, are offering 10% discounts on 70 routes between San Javier and the UK during 2013 and 2014 if the flights are booked in the next few weeks.
The offer follows hard on news that passenger numbers at San Javier have dropped dramatically while those at Alicante airport continue to rise.
Also this week the President of the regional government, Valcarcel, announced that he was going to put the management at the new Corvera airport out to tender in the next couple of months with a view to opening the airporet as soon as posible. On the other hand the terminal planned for the speed rail link, AVE, at the new airport is unlikely to happen before 2017.
