The decision by the Town Hall to cut the minibus service, which provided transport to and from the town for residents in Valentin and on the outskirts of Calasparra including two of the main urbanizations, will be challenged by the United Left party.
The service has been cut from today, Monday, as part of the local administration´s package of austerity measures.
Ricardo Garcia of the United Left told NEXOnr the party would be challenging the decision during this month´s full Town Hall meeting. The date of the meeting has still to be announced.
Assurances from the Mayor, Jesus Navarro, on Radio Calasparra that the service would be resumed when the administration´s finances improved have done little to allay anger amongst residents without their own transport who depended on the once a day service.
The bus service had full disabled access and also provided a public transport link to the local health centre for residents in and outside the town.
