During the coldest period of the year in Spain the price of electricity rose today to an average of 88 euros per megawatt, almost three euros more than the fixed price set in December 2013.
Opposition politicans and NGO´s have accused the electricity companies of “manipulation” and the Government Minister of Energy appeared on Spanish TV yesterday promising to change the system whereby the price of electrcicity is calculated.
This is the highest price for electricity since December 2013 when it reached 91.89 euros and the Government intervened and suspended the previous system of “auctioning” current. It was replaced by a regulated price set every three months linked to the price per hour for electricity on the market.
The Minister will make an announcement in the next few days concerning the hike.
We await with impatience!!
