Schools were closed, classes at the Sports Pavillion cancelled and the main road between Caravaca and Calasparra was cut off yesterday after light snow showers painted the local landscape white.
While in Caravaca, Cehegin and Bullas there were substantial snow falls causing some difficulities, in Calasparra light snow was interrupted by rain washing it away.
The Sierra del Molino and San Miguel were picturesque with icing sugar summits but at ground level the snow quickly turned to slush and by this morning, Friday, there was hardly a trace of these winterly showers.
Calasparra certainly escaped the worst! The A7 Alicante road was closed near Alcoy most of the day; most roads in nearby Bullas were cut off and there were heavy snowfalls in Cehegin and Caravaca.
Basically, we just got the pretty part!
