Just for once the rain predicted for the Murcia region did not pass Calasparra by as some 41.5 litres fell per square meter from the early hours of Sunday morning to midday.
The rains were welcomed by local residents, particularly the farmers and smallholders, and will help to replenish dwindling water reserves.
Snow fell on high ground in Bullas, Caravaca and Moratalla rendering roads in these areas impassible but did not reach Calasparra.
