The demise of Calasparra station, it seems, has been greatly exaggerated: it will not close!
This announcement was made by the Government Delegate in Murcia, Diego Conesa, when he visited Calasparra today.
He explained that central government was committed to maintain the railway link Calasparra – Cieza.
The declaration follows reports in the regional press that the fate of Calasparra station was sealed and that those wanting to travel by train would need to go to Murcia: effectively cutting off North West Murcia for train passengers.
Calasparra is the only local station in North West Murcia and serves passengers travelling to and from Madrid.
