CALASPARRA: HIGHEST RAINFALL IN THE REGION

As 63.6 litres of rain fell per square metre in Calasparra yesterday evening, streets were turned into rivers and the trunk road between Ventas de Olivas and Caravaca was cut off at kilometre 1 and 4 due to mud accumulating on the road surface.
The Medieval Parade was suspended and the emergency services 112 received 54 calls for assistance, 13 of which were from from Calasparra.
Around 6.30pm last evening gusts of a maximum of 63 kph, torrential rain, lightening and thunder caused power cuts in some areas of the town.
Calasparra was the area where most rain fell in the last 24 hours according to the SAIH of the Segura Water Board when 63.6 litres fell, 13.8 lires per aquare metre in one hour.
In the neighouring areas rainfall was Cehegín,  27.2 litres; Moratalla, 26.6 litros; Jumilla and Ricote,  23.7 litres ; Cieza, 22 litres; and Caravaca de la Cruz,21,2 litres. With rainfall at more than 60 litres in Calasparra we received the most rainfall in all the region.

The Met Office has issued an Orange weather warning for rain and storms tomorrow, Monday June 10.
