AEMET, the Met Office in Spain, has issued another orange weather warning for Calasparra with temperatures expecting to reach 43 centigrade again today, Friday.
The current heatwave has brought temperatures in the 40´s to Calasparra and tropical nights but the good news is the weekend will be cooler.
Temperatures on Saturday are expected to be minimum 22 and maximum 36, a good seven degrees cooler than today. Sunday will have some cloud cover and temperatures are predicted to be slightly higher with a minimum 23 and maximum 37. At the start of the week temperatures are expected to rise slightly but should remain below 40 centigrade.
The hottest part of the day in Calasparra tends to be after 12midday. However, the heat generally does not abate much before 9 or 10pm with night time temperatures remaining uncomfortably high until the early hours of the morning.
It is advisable these days to frontload your day, rising at 6 to 7am if you want to take advanatge of fresh temperatures to walk your dog or do some outside work. By midday it is advisable to be inside with fans or AC to keep cool. Be Spanish…. enjoy a siesta!!
Luckily at the moment three or four days of excruciating heat are generally followed by a few cooler days so try and take advantage of that cooler period for any outide activities.
