Dogs Rescue Calasparra are appealing for help after rescuing an injured female and her five puppies in a property in the countryside of Calasparra.
The Associaion were advised that the mother had taken shelter at the property where she had give birth to the five puppies. When volunteers arrived at the scene they discovered that the mother could hardly walk, dragging her hind legas behind her.
Witnesses relate that the mother was attacked by two guard dogs of a neighbouring property that were roaming loose in the area. According to Dogs Rescue one of the persons present wanted to kill the mother but another refused and gave her temporary shelter at her home.

The female has no chip and is currently hospitalized in the Quipar Veterinary Clinic where they are carrying out tests.
However, examinations demonstrate her spine is not injured although she hs mastitus and injuries. The puppies are being cared for at the refuge.

The offences committed in this incident are inumerable beginning with the lack of a chip (obviously so no-one can trace who the owner is); allowing the mother to get pregnant instead of spaying her; and then abandoning her. The owners of the dogs who attacked her are contravening the law by allowing dogs to roam free without supervision or control.
The law to protect animals is only effective if it is enforced and it can only be enforced if the authorites know about contraventions.
