This
is Clara Campoamor, Spain´s equivalent of Emily Pankhurst, who was a main
player in winning the vote for women.
The battle was won on October 1 1931 when legislation was finally passed giving
women in Spain the right to vote.
Eight years later the dictator Franco put an end of universal suffrage in Spain
and residents had to wait another 40 years for democracy to be reinstated.
Now 88 years the fight for equality between men and women is advanced but, by
no means, over.
