More than 1,000 people marched through Calasparra yesterday, Sunday, to show solidarity with those suffering from cancer and to raise funds for cancer research.
Exactly 4,724.77 euros was raised through inscriptions and the sale of bracelets, bows, glasses and T-shirts., all of which will go to cancer research.
The march, under the slogan “We will dress Calasparra in pink,” transformed the town centre into a virtual sea of pink.
Originally the idea of the female sports sector in Calasparra, with the support of the local Sports Department, the march quickly gained support amongst the general public and associations in the town. It was also supported by local politicians, including the Mayor of Calasparra, José Velez.
