According to our sources on the Tierra del Sol, local police almost caught a gang of burglars red handed and have raided a flat on the site where a quantity of stolen proerty was recovered.
Apparently three males in black hoodies were chased by police after six more burglaries and attempted burglaries on the urbanisation this week. However, the police, who have had the gang under survelliance, were outrun by the suspects.
Later they raided an apartment on the Tierra del Sol and recovered property which they suspect is from previous burglaries on the site. They will be contacting residents, who have been burgled recently, to invite them to go the police station and identify their property.
Before the fiestas the Mayor of Calasparra, Jose Velez, informed Nexonr and a resident of TDS, that a plain clothes operation was underway on the ubanisation in an attempt to catch the burglars, and that unmarked police cars would be patrolling the site.
It is possible that the police operation will deter further burglaries but in the meantime residents are reminded to lock doors and windows whenever they leave the house, even if its only for a few minutes.
As there are victims of burglaries who have had their insurance claims denied because their security systems were considered inadequate or because the property was not completely secured, readers may want to check their security arrangements with their existing insurers and ask for written confirmation that the security systems are adequate for insurance purposes.
For those victims of burglaries, who have had their claims refused, we remind you all insurance companies must have an appeal procedure which you should use. You should be given written reason for the refusal which you can then check against the small print of your insurance policy.
If you are still not satisfied there is an Insurance Ombudsman (just type this into your search engine) who will look into your case. However, you must complete the appeal system of your insurance company before you are eligible for this help, which is free of charge.
We have received some emails about a suspect vehicle which has been reported to the police. We cannot include the details on this webpage for legal reasons but residents on TDS and the local police have the details.
Nexonr will be asking the Mayor for an update on the situation after the weekend.
