REPORT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEADS TO ARRESTS FOR MARIJUANA PLANTATION

When the Guardia Civil responded to a report of domestic violence they discovered some 20 marijuana plants, one and half metres high, dried and ready for distribution during the local fiestas.
The Guardia Civil were called to the house by a victim of domestic violence to remove her husband who was in volation of a
restraining order.
While being interviewed the victim indicated that her husband was inside the house. During his arrest for being in contravention of the restraining order the officer saw a marijuana plantation at the end of the porch. According to police sources the marijuana was “dried and ready to be distributed during the fiestas.”
After the man was arrested the Guardia Civil kept a watch on the property and observed the youngest son of the family come out and hide something in the bushes. Later this proved to be a hunting gun for which the owner has no licence and had been disqualified from having one until 2016. The son was arrested on illegal firearms charges.
The two men detained are aged beween 25 and 63 years old and are from Calasparra. They have appeared before magistrates.
In a similar operation in nearby Beniaján the Guardia Civil discovered a marijuana plantation camouflourged within a lemon grove. A father and son were arrested.
